In celebration of Father’s Day and National Men’s Health Month, the board of associates of Mount St. Mary’s Hospital and Health Center is sponsoring the 20th annual “A Father’s Day Gift of Love and Life.” The free prostate cancer screening will be available from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, through Friday, June 14, in the outpatient center (north lobby) of the hospital, 5300 Military Road, Lewiston.

The outpatient center can be conveniently reached through the north entrance driveway off Military Road.

“This is a great opportunity for men to have a screening that can make a difference in their lives,” said Louis Paonessa, president of the board of associates. “The PSA blood test is simple and it often indicates a potential problem before any symptoms appear.

“We are proud to be able to sponsor this program and hope that everyone will encourage their loved ones to participate in ‘A Father’s Day Gift of Love and Life.’ ”

Last year, more than 200 men were screened. Screening is recommended for men over the age of 40, especially those with a family history of prostate cancer.

Pre-registration for the free screening in not necessary. This is not a fasting test. Results will be forwarded to one’s personal physician.

Free gift certificates are available for presentation to loved ones by calling 716-298-2145. Gift certificates are not required to have a screening.
