Public forum on scams targeting older adults

In observance of National Elder Abuse Awareness Month, Niagara County’s Office for the Aging and Council on Elder Abuse will hold a public forum on the current scams targeting older adults in the community. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, June 28, at Lockport Town Hall, 6560 Dysinger Road.

Scheduled presenters include: New York State Sen. Robert Ortt; Assemblyman Mike Norris; Niagara County District Attorney Caroline Wojtaszek; Niagara County Undersheriff Mike Filicetti; Melissa Woods, Center for Elder Law & Justice; Rebekah Dash, Cornerstone FCU loss prevention coordinator; Kelsey Rebmann, Better Business Bureau community programs director; and Kevin Hanna, AT&T director of external affairs.

There will also be resource tables and “done in a day” legal assistance for people ages 60 and older.
