The New York State Department of Transportation on Thursday announced construction is continuing on the project to remove a portion of the Niagara Scenic Parkway (formerly Robert Moses Parkway) in the City of Niagara Falls. As a result, an additional road closure is going into effect.

Beginning today, Whirlpool Street, from Cedar Street to Cleveland Avenue, will be closed to all traffic. In addition, the following local streets will be temporarily posted for two-way traffic:

  • Spruce Avenue
  • Elmwood Avenue
  • Ashland Avenue
  • Chilton Avenue
  • Pierce Avenue
  • Division Avenue
  • Lincoln Avenue

This closure is expected to be in place for the remainder of the construction season. Motorists will be directed to follow a posted detour using Route 104/Main Street.

Motorists are urged to slow down and safely move over when approaching roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones.
