•Many residents have inquired on the ever-changing acceptable recycling items. Modern Disposal Services (ModernCorporation.com) collects garbage and recycling for the Town of Lewiston.

Best items to place in your recycling bin: Paper – Newspaper, phone books, paperboard and junk mail. Cardboard -- cardboard and pizza boxes. Plastic -- jugs and bottles with small top openings. Bottles and jars – clear bottles and jars. Metal – aluminum cans, metal cookware, steel and tin cans. No sorting is necessary, simply place clean and empty items loose in your bin.

•The Lewiston Police Department has placed a Drop-Off Box for bottles and cans in the front foyer at Town Hall to help support the Lewiston Police Explorers program. The Explorers will receive points to help gain funds to support their program. Donations will help with uniforms, training gear and other expenses. Using the Drop-Off Box instead of throwing bottles and cans away in the garbage is another way to help with recycling in our community.
