The New York State Department of Transportation announced construction will continue this week on the project to remove a portion of the Niagara Scenic Parkway in the City of Niagara Falls. As a result, a new road closure is scheduled to begin.
Beginning at approximately 7 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, Whirlpool Street, between Cedar Street and Cleveland Avenue, will be closed to all thru traffic to begin reconstruction of the roadway. Motorists will be directed to follow a posted detour.
This closure is expected to last through the construction season.
A listing of all road closures for the project can be viewed at www.dot.ny.gov/nspremoval.
Motorists are urged to slow down and safely move over when approaching roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones.
