Niagara University senior Chris Rhue was presented with the United Way of Greater Niagara’s Volunteer of the Year Award on Friday, April 12, at the organization’s ninth annual meeting and awards breakfast at the Wurlitzer Event Center in North Tonawanda.

Rhue, an accounting major from Lewiston, first became involved with the United Way as a junior in high school, when he obtained an internship with the organization through the Academy of International Business and Finance. He then joined the board as one of its youngest members and has held a number of positions, most recently serving as treasurer.

In addition to his work with the United Way, Rhue was honored for the way in which he advocates for the Niagara Region, donating his time and efforts to help build the community and make it a better environment through several volunteer ventures.
