A statement from New York State Sen. Rob Ortt: “We just had a highly publicized debate at the national level about the tremendous merits of the Special Olympics. We've seen how much it means to our communities and how much it means to the incredible athletes who compete and the individuals and families who participate. It’s a shame that, here in New York, Democrats are so tone deaf that they cut funding for the Special Olympics in last night's budget. Maybe it's not a priority for them or maybe it got lost in the billion dollars’ worth of new taxes and fees, the near $2 billion in tax cuts for Hollywood and New York City film studios, or the re-writing of our criminal code and higher education funding to benefit illegal aliens."
