Event will also feature free blood pressure screenings and health fair

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will host a free vascular and hernia screening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in The Heart Center of Niagara, 571 10th St., Niagara Falls.

The event will also feature a community health fair that will highlight a number of the Medical Center’s services, including the Wound Center of Niagara, metabolic/bariatric services, and cardiology. Tours of the cardiac catheterization laboratory and blood pressure screenings also will be available.

Vascular screenings play an important proactive role in understanding risks for potential illnesses. Those at a higher risk of peripheral vascular disease (PVD) are over the age of 50, have family members with PVD or a history of high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Diabetes, smoking, use of tobacco, obesity or sitting for long periods of time can also increase one’s chances of this condition.

Suffering from a hernia? Hernia screenings not only help in the detection of a possible hernia, but also provide information on symptoms and available care.

Those interested in receiving a screening must pre-register, as there are a limited number of slots available. Results will be provided verbally along with follow-up recommendations if appropriate.

To reserve a screening, call 716-278-4605.
