Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello announced the Conference of Italian-American State Legislators will once again offer four scholarship opportunities (two academic and two athletic) at this year’s Italian-American Day on June 3. The four scholarships will be for $3,000 each and are available to residents of the 145th Assembly District who are current college students or high school seniors entering college.

“Each year, college tuition rates continue to rise, and I’m dedicated to doing my part to help students and reward them for their hard work,” Morinello said. “It is a great privilege to award scholarships to our incredible young adults. I’d like to thank my colleagues in the Italian-American Conference for their continued efforts to help students across the state.”

As in years past, the scholarships are only open to constituents in the districts represented by senators and assembly members who are part of the conference. Award criteria is based on student’s athletic success, grade-point average, interest in pursuing a higher education, involvement in the local community, and individual financial need. Due to the large number of applications, the top two applicants from each category will be picked by an independent and bipartisan committee.

All applications in the 145th Assembly District must be submitted to Morinello’s office by Wednesday, April 3. They can be obtained by calling his office at 716-282-6062, emailing [email protected], or visiting his district office at 800 Main St., Suite 2C, Niagara Falls.

Morinello represents the 145th Assembly District, which consists of parts of Erie and Niagara countries. For more information, visit his official website.
