M&T Bank, Buffalo Bills launch 11th annual 'Touchdown for Teachers' contest

Call for nominations now open to recognize educators in Western New York

M&T Bank and the Buffalo Bills have announced their 11th annual “Touchdown for Teachers” program, which recognizes local educators for their outstanding contributions to their students, schools and communities. Peers, family, friends and students can now submit nominations for deserving educators in the Western New York area.

“We have a great appreciation for the impact local educators have on student lives every day,” said Kim Pegula, Pegula Sports & Entertainment’s president and CEO. “Our organization has been honored to join M&T Bank in telling the stories of some of Western New York’s most dedicated educators. These men and women deserve significant recognition of their superior work that helps mold the future of our community.”

Two finalists will be chosen based on involvement in the school and community, degree of positive impact, and their demonstrated commitment to education. One nominee will be awarded the grand prize, a surprise visit from a Buffalo Bills player or alumnus, and a $5,000 grant for his/her school. The runner-up will receive a $1,000 grant for their school.

“As a community-focused bank, we recognize the important role teachers play in neighborhoods across the region. We’re leveraging our partnership with the Buffalo Bills to honor outstanding teachers and draw more attention to the ways they go above and beyond for their students,” said Jim Jarosz, group vice president for retail banking for M&T Bank in Western New York.

Educators can submit their nomination starting today until Friday, March 29, through the online application form at buffalobills.com/teachers. All nominated teachers will receive a certificate of recognition from the Bills and M&T Bank. The finalists will be selected by a committee of Bills and M&T Bank staff members and will be notified by April 19.
