Memorial announces primary care expansion

A trio of primary care physicians will soon be joining the medical staff at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, again expanding the availability of care at its six outpatient sites.

Adeel Amir, D.O., is a graduate of the University of Toronto and earned his doctorate at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is completing his residency in family medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s St. Margaret Hospital, where he has provided care to medically underserved communities and completed clinical rotations in primary care, behavioral health and pediatrics.

While at UPMC, Amir also performed research on diabetes education/glycemic control and on reducing delirium in elderly patients during hospitalization.

Sevan Evren, D.O., holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Toronto and earned his doctorate at the Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is completing his residency in internal medicine at the University of Buffalo.

Evren has co-authored a dozen published research studies and is a former co-president of the Canadian Osteopathic Medical Students Association. He is proficient in three languages: Turkish, Armenian and English.

Pranay Chander, D.O., earned his bachelor’s degree at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, and his doctorate in osteopathic medicine at Michigan State University. He is completing his residency in family medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Chander, who earned membership in Sigma Sigma Phi, the national osteopathic medicine honor society, is a resident member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and a member of the Canadian Osteopathic Association.

“We are very fortunate to be able to attract such qualified physicians as we continue to expand the reach of our primary care services,” Memorial President and CEO Joseph A. Ruffolo said. ”With the addition of these three doctors we will be better positioned than ever to provide quality care to those who live and work in the greater Niagara Region.”

Amir, Chander and Evren will begin work at Memorial this summer, joining Dr. Willard Ruth, Dr. Rosalind Sulaiman, Dr. Robert Bull, Dr. Simmanjeet Mangat, Dr. Jeffrey Burnett, Dr. Sathia Nathan, Dr. Donna Gasparro and a team of physician assistants and nurse practitioners at the Niagara Falls Memorial Primary Care Center, Lewiston Primary Care Center, Grand Island Family Practice, North Tonawanda Primary Care Center and Summit Family Health Center.
