NYSEG, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, continues to deploy personnel to restore power to the approximately 1,400 remaining customers impacted by this week’s powerful windstorm. More than 100,000 NYSEG customers were affected by the windstorm that swept across the state.

All customers affected by the windstorm in the hardest-hit area within NYSEG’s Lancaster division are expected to be restored by 11:35 p.m. tonight.

Company crews will work until every customer is restored and will then shift to patrolling the system to further repair and reinforce electrical infrastructure. More than 2,000 line, tree and service and support personnel responded to this weather event. Additionally, the company is coordinating with emergency officials for drone flight patrols of the transmission system today; which will be followed by manned aerial patrols in the next few days.

A press release stated, “NYSEG would like to thank local, county and state elected and municipal officials, and fire, police and emergency services personnel for their support and assistance throughout this windstorm event. The company is also appreciative of the efforts of contract and mutual aid workers who worked hand-in-hand with our crews to restore power to our customers safely and as quickly as possible.”

NYSEG encourages customers to sign up for outage alerts to receive updates throughout the day automatically by phone, text, or email, as the company updates the status of the restoration process in their area. This information is also available online at http://www.nyseg.com/Outages/outageinformation.html.

The company has additional safety information at www.NYSEG.com and on the company’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
