County unveils survey tool for public input in areas affecting seniors, children, families

Information will be used to develop a new lifelong health and wellness plan

The Erie County departments of health, social services and senior services are seeking public input on ways to improve health and human services programs countywide, and have introduced an online survey for public usage to gather such information for incorporation into an enhanced health and human services plan.

This plan is a successor to the “Initiatives for a Stronger Community” plan, released in 2015 by the Poloncarz administration. That plan outlines specific measures Erie County government will undertake to improve the quality of life for residents in need, and is premised on the principles that county government represents everyone, and that government is an essential partner that can and should lead where appropriate.

“This survey will provide critical feedback for developing our new lifelong health and wellness plan, building on our first health and human services plan by incorporating information from residents countywide. Erie County is like a small state, home to many different communities with different needs and assets, so the survey will allow us to gather data on what is important to them in their everyday lives,” Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz said. “It takes only a few minutes and will go a long way to identifying what is happening in our residents’ lives and communities, the challenges facing seniors, families and children, and the best ways for county government to help them in their daily lives.”

The survey has three sections, including “Supporting Our Seniors,” “Giving Every Child a Chance” and “Empowering Working Families.” Most participants will not need to answer every section, and will only answer questions that are appropriate to them. Participants also have the opportunity at the end of the survey to provide feedback on any matter pertaining to county government. All information submitted is confidential.
