Northgate Health Care Facility honored by ACHCA

Thu, Jan 17th 2019 02:35 pm

Terry Collins, RN, LNHA, administrator at The McGuire Group’s Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda, is a recipient of the 2019 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award presented by the American College of Health Care Administrators.

She will be recognized at the ACHCA’s 53rd annual convocation and exposition in March.

The award was introduced by one of ACHCA’s most revered leaders, the late Eli Pick, and seeks to identify high-performing skilled nursing facilities and the leaders who make them excel. The award is a distinction of significance, as only 7-percent of the facilities nationwide qualify.

Collins has worked for the company since 1999 and has held roles as a director of nursing, health care services director and her current role as administrator, where she is responsible for the overall operation of the facility. She resides in Buffalo.

The ACHCA’s awards program uses data-driven criteria collected by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and includes MDS quality indicators, occupancy information and three years of survey data to identify the top performing facilities.  Some of the quality measures evaluated include pain, pressure ulcers, psychotropic medications, urinary tract infections and hospital readmission rates.

Northgate Health Care Facility provides subacute and outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, memory care, hospice care and respite/short-term care. The facility continuously receives five-star ratings from the federal government and finished in the first quintile of New York state’s quality benchmarking pool for five out of five years.
