Town Clerk Pattie Frentzel enjoyed the volunteer services of eight ladies from the Grand Island Golden Age Center on Thursday.
The eight volunteers continued a decade-long tradition, spearheaded by Nonnie Carroll, of stuffing the town and county tax bills into envelopes for mailing to town property owners.
Frentzel has said in the past that if the town clerk’s office were to contract out the work or do the work in-house (and rack up overtime in the process), town taxpayers would foot a hefty bill.
After all, Frentzel pointed out, the town is now close to 9,000 envelopes mailed out.
