Town of Niagara Police handing Wegmans gift cards, not tickets

Police force looking to spread love and cheer around holidays

This week, the Town of Niagara Police Department has handed out different looking traffic tickets – in fact, those tickets have the looks of $10 Wegmans gift cards.

It’s true, the Town of Niagara Police has been handing out Wegmans gift cards instead of traffic tickets for minor infractions to help spread some Christmas cheer.

During the holiday season, Capt. Craig Guiliani said none of the town’s officers wanna be the bad guy, and this is a way officers can interact and give back to the community.

This is the second year the force has done this and Guiliani said he has driven through the Wegmans parking lot talking to citizens about their holidays before handing them a gift card. Guiliani said some officers will drive through certain areas of town and hand them out to residents in need as well.

As of publishing, Guiliani said the TNPD had $800 in gift cards, with many still left to hand out. The police force’s action is another way locals around Western New York continue to spread holiday cheer to everyone around.
