Residents of Wheatfield Commons, a DePaul Senior Living Community in North Tonawanda, competed in the 11th annual DePaul Senior Olympics on Friday, Oct. 19 at DePaul's Recreation Center located at 1931 Buffalo Road, Rochester.
Douglas Wright accepted a medal from DePaul Recreation Director Dan Charcholla for his first place finish in shuffleboard; Judith Dziekan won first place in the spelling bee; Chris Pruetz accepted a medal from DePaul Activity Coordinator Austin Pettigrew for a third place finish in the bean bag toss; and Dona Doll and Lillian Hall enjoyed watching DePaul's 11th Senior Olympics from the sidelines. Events included a spelling bee, word search, ladder golf, shuffleboard, a putting green, bean bag toss, Wii Bowling and Keep Up. Wheatfield Commons participated in the annual games along with residents from four other DePaul Senior Living Communities - Woodcrest Commons in Henrietta, Westwood Commons in North Chili, Glenwell in Cheektowaga and Horizons in Canandaigua.
