Memorial receives award for infection prevention

Amy Wojciechowski, left, infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship coordinator at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, received the Excellus BlueCross/BlueShield Quality Leaders Award from Excellus Provider Performance Improvement Manager Patricia Hope at the recently held Upstate New York Hospital Quality Initiative (UNYHQI) Best Practices Summit in Verona.
The award recognizes lower-than-predicted rates of hospital acquired infections for the time period of July 2017 through June 2018. The medical center is part of a UNYHQI collaborative that is leveraging electronic surveillance technology to detect infections more efficiently through CareFusion MedMined services.
