On Thursday, Dec. 6, celebrate "A Winter's Fest Eve" in Victorian style. Celebrate the Christmas season at the Niagara History Center's Col. William Bond/Jesse Hawley House, 143 Ontario St., Lockport. The house will be open for tours from 6-8:30 p.m.
Take a step back in time and enjoy a fully furnished and restored historic house, refreshments and music, all in the 19th-century holiday spirit.
The Bond-Hawley House is a National Register-listed, 12-room Federal home/museum. The house is the City of Lockport's oldest brick home, and was built by Bond and then owned by Erie Canal advocate Jesse Hawley. Each room in the circa-1823 house will feature the exhibit "The Night before Christmas," based on the poem by Clement Clarke Moore.
The Bond House Christmas exhibit is co-curated by Becky and Gloria Pittler.
Enjoy homemade cookies, hot mulled cider, children's activities and tours. Local musicians Another Thyme will entertain with holiday music throughout the evening.
Reservations are not required. Guests also can visit from 2-4:30 p.m. Sundays, Dec. 9 and 16.
Donations are accepted. Tours are available for groups of eight or more by reservation. Call 716-434-7433.
