Wes Blidy's senior class in the Diesel Technology Program recently had a field trip of a lifetime.  The students from the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center had a chance to visit the Operating Engineers Union Hall in Lakeview.
While on the premises, the students were allowed to operate heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, backhoes and bulldozers.  They were also given the opportunity to talk to various businesses about employment opportunities in diesel mechanics.  Businesses represented were in landscaping, concrete construction, machine operation and truck driving.
Students ended their day with a lunch catered by Pizza Hut.
"We would like to thank all the people who took the time out of their day to talk to my students," said Blidy.  "It was very informative and the students loved all the hands-on activity."
