On Tuesday, New York State Sen. Rob Ortt joined five local police departments to present more than $60,000 in public protection funding. Joining Ortt were members of the Village of Youngstown, Lewiston, City of Lockport and City of Niagara Falls police departments, as well as the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. With these funds, some of the projects planned include additional Safe Neighborhood active patrols, the purchasing of equipment to replace outdated items, and the upgrading of technology used in police training classes.
"Bolstering local law enforcement agencies will yield positive results for both the departments and the communities they serve," Ortt said. "The brave men and women in blue put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and I'm hopeful that these funds will help them in an extraordinarily difficult job."
