World's first yacht club pinball tournament coming to Sandy Beach Yacht Club

On the shore of the Niagara River, the Sandy Beach Yacht Club will provide a one-of-a-kind setting for the Buffalo Pinball Summer Open '18, one of the year's biggest pinball tournaments, featuring top competitors from across the U.S. and Canada.
More than 100 local, national and international competitive pinball players will compete for cash prizes, trophies, points toward the annual Stern Pro Circuit standings and World Pinball Player Ranking points in this International Flipper Pinball Association-endorsed event.
The Sandy Beach Yacht Club is located at 1851 Winter Road.
The tournaments are open to people of all skill levels. The event will consist of four tournaments: A single, main tournament (qualifying Friday and Saturday, finals Sunday), two classics tournaments (one Friday, one Saturday), and a women's tournament (Sunday).
The tournament will be broadcast live on the Buffalo Pinball Twitch channel and the PAPA YouTube channel.
Established in 2013, the goal of Buffalo Pinball is to bring together all levels of pinball aficionados, from the casual player, to the collector.
The Stern Pro Circuit, presented by the Replay Foundation and the IFPA, is a series of 20 high-level pinball tournaments held throughout each season, starting with the 2018 season. At the end of the season, the top 40 qualifiers from throughout the circuit will be invited to the Stern Pro Circuit Final in Chicago.
Action will take place from 10 a.m. to midnight on Aug. 17; 9 a.m. to midnight Aug. 18; and 10:30 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m. Aug. 19. In addition: A pre-tournament featuring a contest for the players with the best yacht outfit will take place from 5 p.m. to approximately 10 p.m. on Aug. 16
Among the other events at the tournament will be a sunset cruise from Niagara River Cruises.
