On Thursday, New York State Sen. Robert Ortt announced he will host a forum to address the heroin and opioid epidemic that has impacted families and crippled local communities. Ortt will be joined in hosting this event by the Wheatfield Lions Club, which is helping host this forum in honor of Thomas P. Witkowski, a Lions member's son who passed away from a drug overdose.
The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, at 6535 Ward Road, Wheatfield.
Ortt expects to be joined by Assemblyman Angelo Morinello; New York State Sen. Chris Jacobs, who is co-chair of the State Senate Heroin & Opioid Addiction Task Force; Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour, Niagara-Wheatfield School District Superintendent Dan Ljiljanich, Niagara County Mental Health Services Director Laura Kelemen and Niagara County Legislator Rebecca Wydysh.
