This weekend, Bergholz Volunteer Fire Co. rang in their 100th anniversary with a two-day spectacular. After a 15-year absence, the firehall decided to bring back field days - an entertaining venue with food trucks, bands, a parade, beer tent and more.
On Friday, the food trucks arrived around 5 p.m. and the party was on from there. Nerds Gone Wild - a local favorite band - performed at 8:30 p.m. in front of a large crowd.
On Saturday, the day started with the usual - and local favorite - chowder sale, then, at 4 p.m. the siren at Bergholz Fire Hall rang, and the parade began.
The parade took a unique route, as the Bergholz Fire Co. decided to take their original parade direction from 100 years ago - start on Niagara Road, turn right onto Hunt Street, left on Washington Street, left on Rohr Street and right back on Niagara Road in front of the firehall.
After the parade, bands from several firehalls played tunes and attendees enjoyed several food trucks and the beer/wine vendors. At 8 p.m., 90 West took the stage to wrap up the celebrations.
The two-day festivities brought many to the firehall and Bergholz Fire Chief Brian Kroening said many attendees hoped the field days would return next year.
