'Lockport CARES Caring for the Community' event

The Lockport CARES campus at 188-192 Genesee St., Lockport, is celebrating "Lockport CARES Caring for the Community." The newly remodeled homeless shelter was officially rededicated and is open for business.
The rededication ceremony featured Dr. Chandrashaker Gona, M.D., and his continued legacy of caring for the local community. Gona and his wife, Dr. Jayakumari Gona, were honored for their dedication to Lockport CARES emergency homeless shelter. The Rev. James Zang from Mt. Olive Lutheran Church also spoke of the Gona's commitment to the community.
Mayor Anne McCaffrey thanked Lockport CARES for its work and dedication provided in Niagara County over the past 10 years.
The Rev. Alan Bauch, Lockport CARES board president presented the history of the shelter (since 2007).
Approximately 75 people attended the event.
