Emergency medical services personnel from AMR, Mercy EMS and the Niagara Falls Fire Department gathered recently at The Heart Center of Niagara to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Niagara County's first and only cardiac catheterization laboratory.
In the top photo, James Hildreth, left, who received one of the first life-saving procedures in the lab, joined Cardiology Services Director Melissa Rackmil and Cath Lab Medical Director Dr. Neil Dashkoff in blowing out 53 candles on the celebratory cake. Each candle represents a life saved by the cath lab team during emergency procedures on heart attack patients during the past year.
A joint venture of Catholic Health, Kaleida Health, Erie County Medical Center and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, the lab performed more than 650 scheduled outpatient, inpatient and emergency procedures during its first year of operation.
