National Alliance on Mental Illness Buffalo & Erie County meetings for February

The next National Alliance on Mental Illness Buffalo & Erie County family education meeting - open to the public - will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8. It will feature guest speaker Josie Diebold, an intern at the University at Buffalo School of Social Work. Her topic will be "Trauma Informed Care."
While at UB's Institute on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care, Diebold assisted with a podcast series ("Trauma Talks"), facilitated a trauma support group, helped with briefs and papers on trauma-informed care, and assisted with trainings.
The meeting will takes place on the second floor of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4007 Main St., Amherst. Parking and entrance are at the rear of the building. Meeting begins at 7 p.m. with coffee and library resources. The presentation starts at 7:30 p.m.
Two NAMI family support groups are available for family and caregivers of people living with mental illness. Each will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4007 Main St., Amherst (parking and entrance at rear of building); and BestSelf (formerly Lake Shore) Behavioral Health, 3176 Abbott Road, Orchard Park.
