On Wednesday, Girl Scouts of Western New York (GSWNY) will hold the Girl Scout Join-a-thon from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and take on-the-spot registrations over the phone. This event will utilize eight different radio stations throughout GSWNY's nine-county regional service area to direct listeners to call 1-888-837-6410 and register for Girl Scouts.
Adults who register to become volunteers and or register their girls will win Girl Scout goodies when they call the Girl Scout Join-a-thon. Adults must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer and girls must be in grades K-12 to join. In addition, Girl Scouts is sending out a special invite for girls in grades K-1 to join as Daisy Girl Scouts.
At Girl Scouts, girls get to lead their own adventure and team up with other girls in an all-girl environment to choose the hands-on activities that interest them most in important skill areas like science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), outdoors, life skills, and entrepreneurship.
This is a one-day event and those interested in joining as an adult volunteer or girl member can still register after; however, the special Girl Scout goodie prizes won't be available. For more information, call 1-888-837-6410, or visit gswny.org to join.
GSWNY serves nearly 15,000 girls and 7,000 adult volunteers across its jurisdiction, including Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties. The council's administrative service centers are located in Batavia, Buffalo, Jamestown, Lockport, Niagara Falls and Rochester.
