Awesome Buffalo handing out no-strings $10 envelopes Saturday

Buffalo chapter taking part in international #BeAwesomeDay
Awesome Buffalo trustees will hand out pink envelopes starting at noon Saturday, Dec. 9. The group will start at Canalside at noon (meeting at Shark Girl), then spread out to surprise Buffalonians with $1,000 worth of $10 envelopes - no strings attached - just a note with some suggestions on how to use that cash to make Buffalo more awesome.
Among the suggestions inside the pink envelopes handed out:
- Buy some dog treats and go make new friends at the dog park.
- Hide it in your favorite book at the library.
- Give it to the next grumpy-looking person you see.
- Pick up stamps and send some joy-filled handwritten letters.
- Buy a bouquet of flowers and randomly give them away.
It's a change of pace for Awesome Buffalo, which normally hands out single $1,000 grants to community-minded projects, to projects that may lack funding from traditional grants or donations.
Chapters of the
Awesome Foundation worldwide are taking part in similar giveaways, tracked on the social media tag #BeAwesomeDay.
Awesome Buffalo intends to hand out even more money and grants in 2018.
