'Critical incident' affecting multiple agencies leaves local DMVs unable to process transactions
An event being termed a "critical incident" has resulted in a multi-agency computer outage across New York state, according to information received by the Niagara County Clerk's Office - and has left local DMVs unable to process transactions.
The outage, which has impacted multiple agencies including the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and the New York State Police, means local DMV clerks are unable to process any transactions for customers.
All three DMV sites in Niagara County will close at 4:30 p.m. today. Evening hours, normally scheduled on Wednesdays at the Niagara Falls DMV, 1001 11th St., are cancelled, County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski said.
"We regret the inconvenience for local DMV customers, but stress this is a statewide outage, and we'll be back in operation as soon as that's rectified," Jastrzemski said.
Additional information may be transmitted by this office as more updates arrive from the state's office of information technology services.
