Money collected from criminals will go to Veterans One-stop Center of WNY
Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn presented a check for $5,000 to the Veterans One-stop Center of WNY to help fund its programs.
The One-stop Center, at 1280 Main St., Buffalo, is a nonprofit corporation that offers U.S. veterans a convenient, one-stop location where they can access a range of social and health services. It opened in 2013 to help veterans more easily access all of their benefits. It has served more than 7,500 veterans over the past four years, and has opened two more satellite locations: one at 80 Professional Parkway in Lockport, and the other at 29 Liberty St., Batavia.
"There is no greater honor than to serve our country in the armed forces," Flynn said. As a retired Navy commander, I understand the commitment and sacrifice of life in the military, and this contribution is a way to show our gratitude."
The money comes from the DA's asset forfeiture fund, which is comprised of the assets seized from criminals.
The Veterans One-stop Center offers counseling, education, employment, legal, financial and housing services.
