Grand Island Fire Co.: Khreis receives VFW National EMT Award

Dave Khreis of the Grand Island Fire Co. has received a national award for his contributions in both fire service and military service.
Tuesday, Aug. 8, during a special ceremony at the Pfc. Charles N. DeGlopper Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9249, Khreis, a firefighter and emergency medical technician, received the VFW National EMT Award
The award comes after a joint recommendation by Grand Island Fire Chief Chris Soluri and DeGlopper VFW Post Commander Dan McMahon.
Khreis' GIFC service encompassed firefighting skills, New York state EMT certification, 20-year life membership, and a current position on the GIFC board of directors, among other accolades. Khreis also received many official commendations for his extraordinary accomplishments within the fire and military services. His military service covered several years in the U.S. Navy, followed by Naval Reserve duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn.
The presentation took place at the DeGlopper VFW Post, 2121 Grand Island Blvd.
