The 2017 Greater Niagara FCU scholarship for outstanding achievement was awarded to two local high school seniors: Francis Destino (Niagara Falls High School), who will attend the University at Buffalo this the fall to study Mathematics; and Lindsey Kutlak (North Tonawanda High School), who will attend Daemen College to become a physician's assistant.
Scholarship applicants were asked to submit information about themselves and include an essay about their credit union. As members of Greater Niagara FCU, applicants wrote about the credit union philosophy of "People helping People"; the difference between a not-for-profit credit union versus a for-profit financial institution; and, if they were to run a credit union, one program they would implement.
