Can You Help?: Donations sought for Islander undergoing treatment

Fri, Jun 30th 2017 06:35 pm
A gofundme.com page has been established for a young Island native who is facing her second treatment for cancer.
Elizabeth Restey was first diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at the age of 21, right after graduating from the University at Buffalo. After seven rounds of chemotherapy, she went into remission.
Three years after her first diagnosis, she went to the doctor to find out the sex of her second child, and her bloodwork came back abnormal. Roswell Park Cancer Institute confirmed the next day that she had relapsed.
She has been back in the hospital for a few weeks, and has a few more to go before she is strong enough to go home. She has a tough road ahead to recovery with her weakened immune system and high-risk pregnancy.
Any donation is greatly appreciated. Supporters can go online to donate at https://www.gofundme.com/help-liz-fight-leukemia.
