'Free Family Saturdays' offer hands-on art & live performances
Get the kids outside and get creative at Artpark's "Free Family Saturdays."
Families can enjoy a variety of weekly themed "Make and Take" hands-on art activities, the "Costume Closet," "Paint Space," pottery wheel, clay hand building and live performances by Niagara University Repertory Theatre (N.U.R.T.).
"Free Family Saturdays," sponsored by Catholic Health, take place from noon until 4 p.m. July 8-29 in the family activities area in the Outdoor Amphitheater.
July 8 - Workshop theme: The Art of Upcycle
- Works of art from "trash"
- N.U.R.T. performing live at 1 and 3 p.m.
July 15 - Workshop theme: The Art of Movement
- Kinetic sculpture: artworks that soar, melt, move and bend
- N.U.R.T. performing live at 1 and 3 p.m.
July 22 - Workshop theme: The Art of Food
- Make works of art that look like food and feature food
- N.U.R.T. performing live at 1 and 3 p.m.
July 29 - Workshop theme: The Art of Sound
- DIY musical instruments & sound makers for a self-made symphony
- N.U.R.T. performing live at 1 and 3 p.m.
"Free Family Saturdays" can be accessed via the Portage Road entrance (walk down the red brick road or staircase) or through the South Fourth Street entrance nearest the Mainstage Theater (walk up the red brick road).
