Sentinel at 30: Newspaper receives proclamations from Ortt, Morinello

Earlier this spring, New York State Sen. Robert G. Ortt reached out to the staff members of the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel and honored them with a certificate of recognition for 30 years of business and service to the River Region. The Sentinel was recognized for covering topics that highlight local people and events that bring the community together.
"I have certainly enjoyed reading your publications over the last few years," Ortt wrote. "I wish you the best of luck in the future years to come and look forward to reading more issues."
Assemblyman Angelo Morinello also sent along a proclamation. It reads:
"Whereas, a great state is only as great as those persons who give their exemplary service to their community, through involvement with their community and through dedicated service and
"Whereas, in recognition and congratulations is extended to the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel for generating honest reporting to the River Region gearing its news toward the community's peoples, places and events
"Whereas, the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel first published its Newspaper on February 14, 1987 with the intention of reporting positive news to the River Region
"Whereas, through the years the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel has maintained their integrity by holding fast to their ideals of honest reporting
"Whereas, the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel continues to be a valuable newspaper and an integral part of the community by reporting on people, places and events
"Whereas, it is my honor to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel and commend them on their good work and positive impact on the community
"Whereas, it is the sense of the New York State Assembly to give special recognition to the Sentinel for their contributions to the community, and now therefore be it
"Resolved, that I, Assembly Member Angelo J. Morinello, present this citation to proudly commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Lewiston-Porter Sentinel and to congratulate them."
For 30 years - and counting - The Sentinel staff has worked to create an honest newspaper that is a reliable source of information for its readers.
