The River Lea Quilters Guild made the first of two charitable donations from money raised at its triennial quilt show.

The guild presented a check for $1,200 to Stone's Buddies, a local charity that supports any child with a chronic or life-threatening illness who uses Children's Hospital on a regular basis.

Joanne Koessler-Lana, director of Stone's Buddies, accepted the donation at a meeting of the guild on May 16 in the Grand Island High School large cafeteria.

Kimberly Hall, co-chair with Janet Jackman of the quilt show, this year called "Waves of Change," said the guild will make another $1,200 donation at its June 20 picnic to People of the Night.

Hall said the "Waves of Change" quilt show took place at the Gratwick Firehall April 1 and 2. The featured quilter at the show was Sharon Drumm.

Hall reports the next quilt show hosted by the River Lea Quilters Guild will take place in 2020.
