By Victor E. Eydt
After 20 years of public service, I have decided to run for the position of Lewiston town councilman this fall.

I was born and raised in the Town of Lewiston and started my family of two sons, Victor and Kyle, with my late wife, Marnie Farella Eydt.

I am a 1971 Lewiston-Porter graduate and went on to receive an associate's degree in business management from SUNY at Delhi. I began my working career with Burger King Corp. as a restaurant manager, and continued in management at the corporate level as director of construction - real estate.

I retired from management at Cassens Transport in January of this year.

We have all noticed the new growth and opportunities that have occurred in the Town of Lewiston over the last several years. I want to bring my experience and training to the town, and contribute the knowledge I have gained toward the planning and development of our area, for the benefit of all of us.

Our challenges for the near future include financial stability and continuing to improve and update our outdated infrastructure, such as sewer and water lines. Other new challenges include solar and wind power, which must fit into our community without diminishing our quality of life. We must also include new technologies such as mobility cell towers and the regulations to manage them.

As a past member and chairman of the Village of Lewiston Planning Board, and a trustee of the village for two terms, I bring many years of experience in dealing with the public, other elected officials and the many community organizations that contribute so much to our way of life. I have brought the appropriate solutions to a variety of issues facing our citizens.

My years of public service have also taught me not to promise a solution until I've researched the issues and learned the facts. My focus has always been on what is best for the people I represent.

My decision to run for Lewiston Town Council at this time is based upon my belief that I, along with the members of the Town Board, can make a significant contribution to our community by working together, always for the general good.

While I campaign this summer and fall, I hope to learn your thoughts on the issues that are most important to you, your business and family.

I humbly ask and seek your support in November.
Thank you.
