The Grand Island Chamber of Commerce's Citizen of the Year Award is presented annually to businesses and individuals whose contributions have made Grand Island a better place.
Thursday, May 11, the chamber will recognize those who give of their time and energy. Each of this year's recipients was nominated by fellow Grand Island citizens. All nominations were reviewed by the Citizen of the Year committee and chosen for each particular category.
The Grand Island 2016 Citizens of the Year recipients are:
•Athletics: Grand Island Soccer Club
•Business: Dana's Stylin Pets
•Community Service: Sue Marston
•Educator: Cindy Wynne
•Leadership: Lynn Dingey and Becky Stufkosky
•Organization: Girl Scouts of Grand Island
•Outstanding Youth: Jessica Flash and Allyson Nemeth
The dinner will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Niagara Falls starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased at the Grand Island Chamber office, 1870 Whitehaven Road.
