Babcia's Pierogi, a Western New York gourmet pierogi provider, has recently moved its manufacturing facility to a new retail location inside the world-famous Broadway Market in Buffalo.

The family-owned business has strong ancestral roots to this neighborhood. Owner Linda Lund said, "Because of that bond, we want to make sure that all of our neighbors enjoy the traditional taste of a Polish Easter this year - even if they are not of Polish heritage. Growing up, my grandmother always made sure we had plenty of pierogi for the holidays. To our family, the smell of the tender dough pockets, sizzling in butter is the smell of love, which is why we named the company after babcia (the Polish word for grandmother)."

Husband and wife pierogi purveyors, Linda and George Lund are dedicating an entire day of production to manufacture approximately 5,000 pierogi to be distributed to the community through the Food Bank of WNY at area food pantries, including Response to Love Center, St. Patrick's, Polonia Hall, Matt Urban Center and the City Mission.

Linda said the manufacturing process is a "sight to behold. Although my babcia could crank out a lot of pierogi back in the day, she could never keep up with our 'Willy Wonka'-style pierogi machine, which makes thousands of pierogi per hour."

Babcia's Pierogi can be found inside the curved-glass windows directly at the Broadway entrance. Production was set to begin on Wednesday.
