United Way of Greater Niagara to host 7th annual meeting & awards breakfast

Several Niagara County individuals and companies to be recognized

United Way of Greater Niagara will host its seventh Annual meeting and awards breakfast on Friday, April 28, at Four Points by Sheraton Niagara Falls, 7001 Buffalo Ave. The event will celebrate the organization's 2016 annual campaign, which raised over $1 million to support 42 programs provided by 25 different agencies in Niagara County.

United Way's staff and board will also provide an overview of the organization's goals, initiatives and events planned for 2017. In addition, the following individuals and companies will be honored for their commitment and contributions to United Way of Greater Niagara and the Niagara Region:

  • Norman Sinclair Humanitarian Award: Robert Hagen
  • Think Positive, Think United Way Award: Jeremy Mixon
  • Outstanding Employee Coordinator Awards: Kelly Polizzi (Niagara County Community College) and Theresa Cassidy (Seneca Gaming Corp.)
  • Caring Cup Award: National Grid
  • Horizon Award: Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls
  • President's Award: Hypertherm
  • Shining Star Award: Donald Freedman
  • Service Cup Award: YWCA of the Niagara Frontier
  • Youth Advocacy Award: Michael Bobick
  • Outgoing Board Member Honorees: Carrie Mitchell, Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour, Richard Witkowski and Chris Voccio
  • Labor's Community Service Award: United Steelworkers (USW) Local 4-0277

"With many achievements to celebrate, we look forward to highlighting United Way's vast impact throughout the Niagara Region through our partnerships with labor, businesses and multiple agencies," said Connie Brown, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Niagara. "It's important to our staff and board that we continue to educate others about United Way's work and what we have planned for the future."

"This event provides a wonderful opportunity to honor several local individuals and organizations who helped make our 2016 campaign a huge success and inspired others to live out United Way's mission."
