Heart, Love & Soul Food Pantry and Dining Room will hold its annual recognition dinner to take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at Heart, Love & Soul, 939 Ontario Ave., Niagara Falls.

The Partner in Ministry Award honors individuals who participate in the ministry of Heart, Love & Soul, which is "dedicated to feeding those in need - body, mind and soul." National Grid is this year's honoree.

The Spirit of Heart, Love & Soul Award honors those who live in their own sphere, a spirit of service similar to the mission of Heart, Love and Soul. Paulette Shine is this year's honoree.

The Frances Ficorilli Volunteer Award, named for the woman who guided Heart, Love & Soul for 20 years, honors volunteers who have given many hours of faithful service. This year, Cindy Rhoney is being honored for her outstanding and generous volunteer support.

The Rev. James Maher, president of Niagara University, will be the auctioneer for the "Cash & Don't Carry" auction. The public sale includes donations toward capital repairs, personal care items and cleaning supplies, blankets and sheets, summer programs for children, and warm coats.

Jessica Perry, of Scott Perry & Co. Auctioneers, will assist as auctioneer for the "Cash & Carry" auction, which includes New York Yankees "Legends" tickets, a basket of wine, The Woods at Bear Creek (glamping resort), gourmet cooking class and DiCamillo "Dessert a Month for a Year."

Heart, Love & Soul was initiated in 1983 by a prayer group from Sacred Heart Parish. Today, the food pantry and dining room remains a beacon of hope for the residents of Niagara Falls. The mission is "to feed the hungry - body, mind and soul." To fulfill its mission, Heart, Love & Soul serves an average of 55 breakfasts and 160 lunches daily, and the pantry provides food to 700 persons each month. In addition, a care coordinator and caseworker assist with other social and medical services.

Each year, Heart, Love & Soul must raise $400,000, in the private sector alone, to secure funding needed to continue its mission. The annual recognition dinner is a fundraiser to support the mission.
