Mayor Paul A. Dyster invites the community to join the City of Niagara Falls Youth Services for an ugly sweater holiday party from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, 1201 Pine Ave. Children and their families are invited to enjoy an evening of music, food, games, prize giveaways, crafts and a visit from Santa. Everyone is encouraged to wear an ugly holiday sweater at this free event.

Dyster said, "I can't think of a more enjoyable way to spread a little cheer and mark the holiday season with our city's youth than with an ugly sweater party! I want to thank those members of the community who selflessly gave of themselves to make this event possible under the direction of John Caso and Sanquin Starks. It is because of your efforts that the holiday season will be a little brighter for some our youngest residents. So, be sure to don your ugliest sweater and have a happy, safe and warm holiday season!"

Caso, director of public works, said, "The Department of Public Works and Youth Services is thrilled to do its part to make the holidays a little merrier for the city's youth. We want to thank the community members who donated all of the gifts for this exciting event, and look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come."

More than 100 gifts were donated as part of giveaways for newborns to children up to 13 years old.
The City of Niagara Falls Department of Public Works would like to thank the following contributors for their donations to the ugly sweater holiday party:

  • James Starks
  • Terry Rich Jr. and friends
  • Niagara Falls Housing Authority
  • Mary McCarthy
  • Lillie Hall
