State Sen. Marc Panepinto will host a free electronics recycling event Saturday, Aug. 20.
The Grand Island Highway Department, which doesn't accept e-waste recycling drop-offs, is urging residents to take advantage of the event, which will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 251 Brompton Road in Tonawanda.
The event is a partnership with Sunnking Recycling.
Most electronics are recyclable. Islanders can take for recycling:
•Televisions (CRT, LCD, LED and plasma)
•DVD players
•Desktop, laptop computers
•Computer monitors (CRT, LCD, LED)
•Ink and toner cartridges
•Printers, scanners, copiers, and fax machines
•Cell phones and home phones
•PDAs, MP3 players, and tablets
•Servers, IT and network equipment
•Medical lab equipment
Not accepted: A/C units, broken cathode ray tube televisions, or alkaline batteries.
