LED lights poll results

Fri, Aug 5th 2016 02:00 pm

At the request of the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, Niagara Frontier Publications ran a poll earlier this summer asking residents to weigh in on the LED lights on Center Street in the Village of Lewiston.

The poll question asked if the Chamber of Commerce should:

•Purchase more white LED lights

•Just keep its existing white LED lights

•Get rid of the LED lights altogether

Here are the results:

•Get rid of the LED lights altogether - 60 percent

•Purchase more white LED lights - 40 percent

A total of 50 votes were cast.

Jennifer Pauly, president of the Chamber of Commerce, said, "The Chamber of Commerce purchased the lights in cooperation with the Village of Lewiston. Unfortunately, last year, a series of events made it so the lights were not hung during the summer months like intended, resulting in the mixed colored/white lights during the holiday season.

"The chamber has not sat down with the village officials yet to determine the plan for this year. We look forward to that conversation as we go forward in determining how the current lights or any additions to the lights can help make the village look its best year-round."
