Who likes fireworks? Event schedule

Residents can enjoy a host of family-friendly activities this long weekend, from barbecues to public firework displays. Below is a listing of area events.

Lewiston

July 4 fireworks for residents of the Lewiston, Youngstown and Porter communities will be shot off at dusk from the plateau in the Village of Lewiston. Musical entertainment will also be offered from 6-9 p.m. at Academy Park.

Olcott

Fireworks over Lake Ontario will be shot off beginning at dusk Sunday, July 3, from Olcott Beach Carousel Park.

On July 4, the Olcott community will host a Patriots Parade at 12:30 p.m., starting at the Krull Park overlook and continuing to Olcott Beach Carousel Park. Free ice cream and a ride ticket will be available for participating children.

Niagara Falls

Seneca Niagara Casino will host fireworks starting at 9:40 p.m. Sunday, July 3. Rain date will be Friday, July 8.

On Monday July 4, Niagara Falls Sate Park will hold a fireworks show at 10 p.m.

Town of Wheatfield

The Town of Wheatfield's annual fireworks display will take place at dusk July 4 at Oppenheim Park. Musical entertainment by DJ Okie Rich begins at 5 p.m.

Town of Niagara

The Town of Niagara will kick off this year's Independence Day celebrations on Sunday, July 3, with its new "Pride in the Park" event, taking place at Veterans Memorial Community Park, 7000 Lockport Road.

Festivities begin at noon and continue all day, with a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. The event will also feature a craft show, farmers market, five concerts, children's activities, foods and beverages.

North Tonawanda

The annual "T-NT Fireworks Display" will take place at dusk July 4 over the Niagara River from Tonawanda Island. Entertainment will feature Sugar 'n Jazz beginning at 7 p.m.

'4th of July Carnival' to take place on Old Falls Street

Old Falls Street USA is partnering with Hammerl Amusements to present its first "4th of July Carnival" this three-day weekend (noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 2, through Monday, July 4). The fun includes 14 rides, family-friendly games, various street performers and food vendors, which will be featured on Old Falls Street's middle and park blocks in downtown Niagara Falls.

This all-ages carnival features various picture-taking opportunities, clowns, a face painter, balloon art, jugglers, "In Jest" juggling performances by Nels Ross, as well as a fire dancer and fireworks every night. Younger riders will enjoy the new "Rockin Tug," the "Raiders Obstacle Course" and a merry-go-round. Teenagers will enjoy "The Round-Up," "Tornado" and a Ferris wheel.

All-day ride wristbands are available for $20. Wristbands allow guests to ride the rides. Fireworks on Old Falls Street will be set off at dusk all three evenings. For more information, visit www.FallsStreet.com.
