The first Niagara EDGE 5K Run/Walk, which was recently held at the Summit Healthplex in Wheatfield, attracted 175 runners and walkers, according to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Sports Medicine Director Tony Surace.
The event was hosted by Memorial Medical Center's sports medicine and physical therapy department, and UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.
Proceeds from the race benefited the concussion clinic, physical therapy and athletic training programs at the Summit Healthplex.
Overall male winner in the 5K race was Matt Glynn of Buffalo. Overall female winner was Molly Quinn of Amherst. Niagara Falls High School captured the trophy for entering the most high school participants.
Co-chairs for the event were UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine physicians Dr. Scott Darling and Dr. William Wind.
