From July 28 through Aug. 6, Niagara University Theatre will continue its mission to present engaging, delightful theater for young audiences productions with "Freckleface Strawberry: The Musical" presented by The Friends of Niagara University Theatre.

Steven Braddock, director of Niagara University Theatre, said, "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to present a free theatrical production for the whole family. This children's musical is based on the best-selling books by actress Julianne Moore. Freckleface Strawberry must learn to love her freckles ... and discovers that everyone is different - and that's what makes everyone special!"

"Freckleface Strawberry: The Musical" will be directed by Braddock and Terri Filips Vaughan, associate professor, dance/choreographer, for Niagara University's Department of Theatre and Fine Arts. Music direction is by Marnie Aldrow, with costume design by associate professor Maureen Stevens.

Actors in the production include NU theater performance students hailing from across New York: Krista Cantrell, Marissa DelVecchio, Amanda Funiciello, Kalee George, Matt Myers, Kayla Storto, Carly Weldy, Russell Wilson and David Wysocki. Theatre design/technology major Keelin Higgins (stage manager) and recent BFA Performance graduate Anna Krempholtz (set designer) are from Western New York.

"Freckleface Strawberry: The Musical" will be performed on the NU campus in the Lower Level Gallagher Center multipurpose room. The play will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 28-30, and Friday, Aug. 5. Matinees will be presented at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, and Friday, Aug. 5. For early risers, the production will be staged at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, and Saturday, Aug. 6.
