Grand Island Boy returns from dream wish

Grand Island's Matthew Eggers recently returned home from his dream wish: a vacation to California to meet his cousins for the first time, and explore the magical land of Disney. Matthew has been battling childhood cancer for quite some time, and his wish through Make-A-Wish Western New York provided him the respite he craved for so long.

While on his wish, Matthew was able to feel the ocean for the first time, visit Disneyland with his entire family, have a specialized Jedi training and build his first California sandcastle. Matthew traveled with his parents and older sister to California, where they met up with his aunts, uncles and cousins for Matthew's first extended family meet.

Matthew is 6 years old, and was referred to Make-A-Wish by Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo. Lauren Hall, formerly of WIVB Channel 4 and now with Pegula Sports and Entertainment, sponsored Matthew's wish in full.
