Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue will hold its first adoption event in downtown Buffalo, in the lobby of the Larkin Center of Commerce, 701 Seneca St. The event is set for 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21.

The following day, Friday April 22, the rescue will be on the campus of Niagara University, inside the Gallagher Center, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., participating in Earth Day activities.

Both events will feature adoptable dogs, as well as information on the adoption process, volunteering, upcoming events and gardening tips related to pet care.

The rescue is gratefully accepting much-needed donations of Science Diet and Purina One dog foods, paper towels, laundry detergent and bleach, cleaning products, blankets and comforters.

Heart of Niagara is a not-for-profit companion animal rescue organization based in Niagara County. Its mission is to protect the health and welfare of abandoned, unwanted and homeless animals. To date, the rescue has adopted out about 400 animals. It operates solely on donations and the generosity and support of the public.
